About Forthright Home Repair

What we do

We do handyman work for homeowners — small repairs, finish carpentry, drywall and patching, door and window adjustments, deck and railing repair, exterior trim, and the everyday list of jobs most general contractors are too big to take on. Every job gets a written quote before we start and a 1-year workmanship warranty when we finish.

If a job is outside our scope — major electrical, structural, plumbing stack work — we say so up front and recommend someone we trust. We would rather lose a job than take one we can't finish well.

Where we work

Based in Fredericksburg, VA, we cover the City of Fredericksburg plus Spotsylvania, Stafford, and King George counties, with no travel surcharge inside the radius.

How we run jobs

Price first. Small jobs are quoted from photos. Bigger ones get a free walkthrough. Either way, the price is in writing before any work starts. On a fixed-price job, the number on the quote is the number on the invoice unless the scope changes in writing. If we find something extra once the work is open, it gets written down and re-quoted before we touch it.

Most quote requests answered the same business day. Payment is due when the job is done, and larger jobs can be set up on a payment plan.

Honest pricing

Prices are written down before we start. Most services have a flat price, so if a job takes longer than we planned, that's on us. Small odd jobs are billed at our published hourly or half-day rate. Materials are itemized on your quote. There is no minimum charge and no trip fee. If anything we did needs a touch-up within a year, we come back, because that's what the warranty means.
